Adaptive Minds Learning Centre offers in-center therapy based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). We eagerly collaborate with other disciplines in order to maximize growth in all of our clients.
Meet The Team

Founder & BCBA
Mariam Aziz
Mariam is a dedicated Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with a
MPEd specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from Western
University. She completed her HBSc from the University of Toronto
majoring in Exceptionality in Human Learning. She has over 8 years
of professional experience providing client-centered and evidence-based
ABA therapy to children aged 2 to 15 years diagnosed with Autism and
other developmental disabilities. As a BCBA, her duties include
conducting functional behavior assessments, developing individualized
and effective behavior intervention programs, overseeing
the implementation of all aspects of a client’s programming, and
conducting staff and caregiver training. She believes in a compassionate
and trauma-informed approach to ABA therapy.

Co Founder & Clinical Director
Darshel Diaz
Darshel Diaz (she/her) is a Co-founder and Clinical Director at Adaptive Minds Learning Centre.
While completing her undergraduate degree at McMaster University, she worked alongside the fitness director creating programs tailored to meet the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. She was inspired by the progress made by her clients through movement and mindful-based practices, and continued in this field by furthering her studies in Osteopathy and Behaviour.
Being a Registered Behaviour Technician and Osteopathic Manual Practitioner has deepened her knowledge and appreciation surrounding the interconnectedness between the mind, body and spirit.

Arwa Shibly
Arwa is an Instructor Therapist at Adaptive Minds, who is also an undergraduate student studying Psychology at York University. Her passion for psychology and therapy stems from her experiences having a family member with autism. Her empathy and understanding of the efforts families go through is her motivation to further pursue psychology and to help and support those families. Outside of Adaptive Minds, Arwa is involved in extracurricular organizations that support and provide resources for improving mental health. She enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family in her spare time.

Harsharan
Harsharan is a dedicated and compassionate ABA IT at Adaptive Minds Learning, passionate about helping children with special needs reach their full potential. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from York University, Harsharan possesses a solid understanding of the field's principles and theories. He firmly believe in the transformative power of ABA therapy to foster meaningful progress and development in children, driven by a genuine love for their clients. Harsharan's empathetic and patient approach allows them to create a safe and supportive environment, building strong connections with the children they work with.

Sheri Hijazi
Sheri is an instructor therapist who graduated from the University of Toronto with a BSc in Psychology. Passionate about education and helping children reach their fullest potential, she has accumulated over 8 years of experience working with children. Sheri specializes in assisting children with additional needs and strives to create a nurturing and enriching environment at the center where she works. In her spare time, she enjoys bouldering, exploring new places, and reading.

Najma Idrees
Najma, a graduate of York University with a Bachelor in Honours Psychology, has been with Adaptive Minds for nearly a year. During this time, she has gained valuable experience working with children in the field of ABA and is eager to further engage in implementing Applied Behavioural Analysis techniques to make a positive impact on their lives. As a mental health advocate, Najma is always seeking opportunities to help others and plans to pursue her master's in Neuropsychology. In her free time, she enjoys reading, going for walks, and playing badminton.

Janice Chambers
Janice Chambers has over twelve years of experience as a Registered Early Childhood Educator, specializing in working with children with special needs. Her passion for working with children began in high school when she volunteered as a guidance assistant, supporting students with challenging behaviors. She pursued her education in Early Childhood Education, earning an Ontario College Diploma and Certification as an Early Childhood Resource Consultant. Currently, Janice is furthering her professional practice by working towards a postgraduate certificate in Autism and Behavioral Science. With her extensive experience and collaborative approach, Janice effectively works with multidisciplinary teams and diverse families to address the unique needs of children with exceptionalities in a childcare setting.

Alan Miokovic
Alan Miokovic is a Behavior Consultant at Adaptive Minds Learning Centre Inc. Currently pursuing studies in Psychology and Neurology, he aspires to become a scholar in these fields. With a focus on behavioral sciences at Seneca, Alan believes that a deep understanding of communication, creativity, and perceptions can lead to the achievement of personal and professional goals. In his free time, he enjoys hobbies such as singing and dancing.
